Senior IAS officer Anu Garg has created history by being appointed as the Chief Secretary of Odisha, becoming the first woman to hold the state’s top bureaucratic post. She succeeds Manoj Ahuja and is expected to play a key role in steering Odisha’s administrative and development agenda.
A 1991-batch IAS officer, Anu Garg is known for her vast administrative experience and strong policy-driven approach. Before taking over as Chief Secretary, she served as Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, where she handled several crucial departments and initiatives related to governance reforms and sustainable development.
Recently, Anu Garg has been in the news for highlighting Odisha’s long-term vision for water security by 2047, stressing the importance of conservation, efficient management, and sustainable use of water resources. She has also been actively involved in shaping the state’s development roadmap under the vision of “Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat”, focusing on inclusive growth and infrastructure development.
