In Bankura, a 31-year-old Navy officer died after a failed parachute jump.
Govind was assigned to INS Karna, the Navy’s Marine Commandos (Marcos) dedicated base in Visakhapatnam, according to the Eastern Naval Command. Govind was discovered outside the gate of a factory in Barjora, in the state’s Bankura district.
A Special Forces personnel of the Indian Navy died on Wednesday after a failed para jump in the sky over West Bengal. The deceased was identified as Chandraka Govind, 31, and he was a resident of Andhra Pradesh.
A semi-opened parachute was attached to his shoulders. The police took him to the Barjora Super Specialty Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A statement issued by the defence public relations officer said, “Adm R Hari Kumar CNS and all personnel of the Indian Navy pay tribute to Chandraka Govind, Petty Officer, who lost his life whilst undergoing training exercise at Panagarh on 5 April, 2023 and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
