In a strong signal of the growing strategic bond between India and the United Arab Emirates, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid a brief yet impactful three-hour visit to New Delhi on Sunday. Despite the short duration, the visit underlined the warmth and depth of the bilateral relationship, marked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rare personal welcome and high-level discussions on key global and regional issues.
Prime Minister Modi broke protocol by personally receiving the UAE President at the airport, a gesture reserved for the closest of allies. The two leaders were seen greeting each other warmly, reflecting the strong personal rapport that has played a crucial role in strengthening India-UAE ties over the years.
Following the airport reception, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed visited the Prime Minister’s residence, where the leaders held closed-door talks.
