Trump Names Global Panel for Gaza, Includes Ex-British PM and Indian-Origin Banker

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the creation of a high-profile international panel, dubbed the “Board of Peace”, to guide governance and reconstruction efforts in Gaza following a fragile ceasefire.
The board brings together political leaders, diplomats, and global economic experts. Among the notable appointments are former British Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, and senior Trump advisers Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. The panel also includes Ajay Banga, the Indian-origin banker and former head of the World Bank Group, highlighting the international focus of the initiative.
According to a White House statement, the board will oversee key aspects of Gaza’s transitional administration, including governance, infrastructure development, and attracting investment. The panel is expected to work closely with the newly established National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, a technocratic body tasked with day-to-day management in the region.
The U.N.’s former Middle East envoy, Nickolay Mladenov, has also been named as a board representative on the ground in Gaza to coordinate efforts and ensure smooth implementation of policies.
Trump’s “Board of Peace” initiative is part of a broader 20-point plan aimed at stabilizing Gaza, promoting economic growth, and preventing further conflict. While some international observers have welcomed the move, others remain cautious about the feasibility and inclusivity of the plan, given the complex political dynamics in the region.
This international lineup, including an Indian-origin banker and prominent global leaders, underscores the U.S. administration’s strategy to blend diplomatic, political, and economic expertise in efforts to rebuild Gaza and support long-term peace.
