Tamil Nadu Teens Attack Migrant Worker, Video Sparks Outrage

A disturbing incident from Tamil Nadu has triggered nationwide outrage after a group of teenage boys brutally attacked a migrant worker, with the assault captured on video and circulated widely on social media. The incident took place near Tiruttani railway station in Tiruvallur district, close to Chennai.

According to police, the victim is a migrant labourer from Odisha who was travelling by suburban train when he was confronted by four minors, all around 17 years of age. The accused reportedly carried sickles and sharp weapons and allegedly planned to record the attack for a social media reel. The situation escalated quickly, and the worker was severely injured in the assault.

The viral video, which shows the attackers posing and celebrating after the assault, sparked strong public anger. Police acted swiftly after the footage surfaced and detained all four juveniles. They were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent three of them to a government observation home, while one was granted bail.

The injured worker was rushed to hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken under the law. Political leaders and civil society groups have condemned the incident, calling it a serious failure of youth discipline and highlighting the dangers of violence driven by social media influence.

The attack has once again raised concerns over the safety of migrant workers and the growing trend of violent acts filmed for online attention. Many have urged stronger monitoring, counselling for youth, and strict enforcement of law to prevent such crimes.
