A disturbing murder case has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district, where a married man has been arrested for allegedly killing his live-in partner and attempting to destroy evidence by burning her body.
According to police officials, the accused, a retired railway employee, was living in a live-in relationship with the woman while already being married. Investigations suggest that frequent disputes between the two had been taking place for some time, reportedly over financial matters.
Police said the woman was allegedly killed inside the accused’s house. In an attempt to conceal the crime, the man reportedly placed her body inside a metal box and later burned it using coal and wood. The remains were then allegedly collected and disposed of to avoid identification.
The case came to light after suspicious activity related to the transportation of the metal box raised alarm, prompting a police investigation. When officials intervened and examined the container, charred remains were found inside, leading to a detailed probe.
Based on evidence and questioning, police registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and identify if anyone else was involved or had prior knowledge of the crime.
Forensic teams are examining the recovered remains, while statements from witnesses and relatives of the victim are being recorded. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken and that the case will be fast-tracked.
The incident has shocked local residents and once again raised concerns over crimes within live-in relationships and domestic settings. Police have urged people to report any suspicious activities promptly to prevent such crimes.
