Raga News Zone | Education Desk

In a surprising case from Jharkhand, a man who reportedly failed the UPSC examination four times was arrested for allegedly posing as a senior civil servant for several years, police officials said.

According to the police, the accused, a resident of Palamu district, had been claiming to be an IAS officer and introduced himself as a high-ranking government official in different places. He allegedly used fake identity cards, government-style nameplates, and official-looking documents to support his claims and gain social recognition.

The matter came to light when the man visited a local police station in connection with a land-related dispute. His behavior and claims raised suspicion among officers, who then conducted a verification. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the accused had never cleared the UPSC examination, despite attempting it multiple times.

During questioning, the man reportedly admitted that he started impersonating an officer to avoid embarrassment and social pressure after repeated failures. Police recovered forged documents and other items used for impersonation from his possession.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law for cheating and impersonation, and further investigation is underway to determine whether he misused his fake identity for financial or other illegal gains.
