Germany Introduces Visa-Free Airport Transit for Indian Passport Holders
Raga News Zone | World Desk
Germany has announced a major relaxation in travel rules by allowing visa-free airport transit for Indian passport holders, a move expected to ease international travel for thousands of Indians transiting through German airports.
Under the new arrangement, eligible Indian travellers will no longer need an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) while passing through Germany, as long as they stay within the international transit zone and do not enter the country. This change will benefit passengers travelling to destinations in Europe, North America, and other regions via German hubs.
Travel industry experts say the decision will help reduce costs, paperwork, and waiting time for Indian travellers, particularly students, professionals, and long-haul flyers. Airlines are also likely to see smoother operations with fewer visa-related complications during layovers.
German authorities have indicated that the step reflects strengthening bilateral ties and increased confidence in Indian travel documents. The move also brings Germany in line with several other countries that have simplified transit norms for Indian nationals.
Indian travellers have welcomed the announcement, calling it a traveller-friendly decision that makes international journeys more convenient and stress-free.
