ED Raids Pratik Jain’s Home in Kolkata, Sparks Political Reactions
Raga News Zone | National Desk
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday carried out search operations at the Kolkata residence of political strategist Pratik Jain, along with raids at offices linked to the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC). The action is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities and money-laundering activities, officials said.
According to sources, ED teams conducted searches at multiple locations in the city, examining documents and electronic devices as part of the probe. The agency has not yet disclosed detailed findings or confirmed whether any seizures were made during the operation.
The raids triggered sharp political reactions in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached Pratik Jain’s residence during the ED action and accused central agencies of targeting individuals connected with her party for political reasons. She alleged that the move was aimed at harassment ahead of important political developments.
The opposition, however, hit back, questioning the Chief Minister’s presence at the site and calling it interference in a central agency’s investigation. BJP leaders said the law must be allowed to take its course without political pressure.
Pratik Jain is a key figure associated with election strategy and political consulting. The ED has clarified that the investigation is ongoing and that further action will depend on the evidence collected.
