Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt Criticizes India Open Conditions, Calls Experience ‘Challenging’
Raga News Zone | New Delhi
Danish badminton star Mia Blichfeldt has once again raised concerns over the conditions at the ongoing Yonex Sunrise India Open in New Delhi, describing her stay and competition in India as “challenging” and the event setup as “highly unprofessional.”
In a social media post, Blichfeldt explained that several factors, including disruptions at the venue and inadequate arrangements, made it difficult for players to focus on their matches. She added that the experience was “tougher than expected” and highlighted the need for improved organization at international events held in India.
Reports from the venue indicate minor incidents that affected play, including disturbances in the stands and unexpected interruptions on the court. Blichfeldt’s comments follow similar observations from other international players who participated in the tournament, pointing to a growing concern over the readiness of facilities for high-profile competitions.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has acknowledged feedback from players and stated that organisers are reviewing the issues to ensure better conditions for future events, including the upcoming World Championships.
Despite the challenges, Blichfeldt continues to compete, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the game while urging organisers to address logistical and operational gaps. Her remarks have reignited conversations about player welfare and the standards expected at major badminton tournaments hosted in India.
