The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reacted after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected its request related to the T20 World Cup, with BCB President addressing the issue publicly and assuring fans that the board remains committed to the country’s cricketing interests.

Speaking to the media, the BCB chief said the board had placed its proposal before the ICC in good faith, keeping in mind logistical, sporting, and commercial considerations. While acknowledging the ICC’s decision, he stressed that Bangladesh respects the global body’s processes and governance framework.

The ICC’s rejection has sparked discussion among cricket fans and analysts in Bangladesh, with many expressing disappointment over the outcome. However, the BCB president clarified that such decisions are taken at a broader level, involving multiple stakeholders, and are not aimed at any single member board.

He further stated that the BCB will continue to work closely with the ICC and other cricket boards to strengthen Bangladesh’s role in international cricket. According to him, the focus now is on improving infrastructure, player development, and performance in upcoming international tournaments.

The BCB chief also urged supporters to remain patient and positive, emphasising that setbacks are part of international sports administration. He added that Bangladesh will keep pushing for opportunities that benefit its players and fans in the long run.

Despite the setback, the board reiterated its ambition to host major ICC events in the future and said it remains confident that Bangladesh’s growing stature in world cricket will eventually be reflected in such decisions.
