Aadhaar–PAN Linking Deadline Nears

Raga News Zone | Finance Desk

The government has once again reminded taxpayers to link their Aadhaar card with PAN before the December 31, 2025 deadline. As of now, this process is mandatory for all eligible PAN holders to ensure uninterrupted access to financial and tax-related services.

According to the Income Tax Department, failure to link Aadhaar with PAN by the due date will result in the PAN becoming inoperative from January 1, 2026. An inoperative PAN may cause difficulties in filing income tax returns, claiming refunds, and completing important banking or investment transactions.

Taxpayers who miss the deadline may also have to pay a penalty to reactivate and link their PAN with Aadhaar. In addition, higher TDS or TCS rates may be applied to financial transactions carried out using an inoperative PAN.

The Aadhaar–PAN linking process can be completed online through the official Income Tax e-filing portal by entering PAN and Aadhaar details and verifying them via OTP. Authorities have advised citizens not to wait until the last moment to avoid technical issues or delays.

With only a few days left, taxpayers are urged to complete the linking process at the earliest to avoid inconvenience and ensure smooth financial operations.
