Bengaluru Airport Assault Case Shocks City, Ground Staff Member Arrested

A shocking incident at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has raised serious concerns over passenger safety after a Korean woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a ground staff employee. Police confirmed that the accused has been arrested and an investigation is underway.
According to officials, the incident occurred within the airport premises when the woman approached ground staff for assistance. During the interaction, one staff member allegedly misused his position and assaulted her. The victim promptly reported the matter to airport authorities.
Following the complaint, CISF personnel detained the accused and handed him over to the local police. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the accused was formally arrested.
Police said the victim’s statement has been recorded, and CCTV footage from the airport is being examined to corroborate her account. Medical and legal assistance has been provided to the woman, who is currently safe.
Airport authorities have stated that they are fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies and have initiated internal disciplinary action against the accused employee. They also assured that passenger safety remains a top priority.
The incident has triggered public outrage and renewed calls for stricter security measures, background verification, and regular sensitisation training for airport staff to prevent such incidents.
