ICC Considers Alternate Venues for Bangladesh in T20 World Cup 2026
Raga News Zone | Sports Desk
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is reportedly exploring alternative venues in India for Bangladesh’s matches in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This comes amid concerns raised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) over playing their games at the originally scheduled Indian stadiums.
Bangladesh had requested a shift of some of their matches to Sri Lanka, citing security and logistical concerns. However, the ICC is said to be leaning toward keeping the matches in India and instead suggesting other cities as possible venues. Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram are the leading options being considered, both equipped with modern facilities capable of hosting World Cup fixtures.
The decision follows heightened tensions after recent incidents affecting Bangladeshi players in India. The ICC is expected to balance team safety, tournament schedules, and logistical feasibility before finalizing the venues.
Officials have indicated that a decision on the alternate venues will be announced shortly, ensuring the T20 World Cup begins smoothly on its scheduled dates.
