Bangladesh: Hindu Widow Allegedly Assaulted and Humiliated

A shocking case of violence against a woman has come to light from Jhenaidah district in Bangladesh, where a Hindu widow was allegedly subjected to brutal assault and public humiliation by two men. The incident has caused widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about women’s safety and minority rights in the country.

As per the victim’s statement to the police, the accused had been pressuring and threatening her for some time over personal and property-related issues. On the day of the incident, the men allegedly entered her residence forcefully, assaulted her, and later tied her to a tree, cut her hair, and subjected her to inhuman treatment. The act was reportedly carried out to intimidate and disgrace her.

Hearing her cries, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the woman. She was immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment. Following this, the victim lodged a formal complaint at the local police station, naming the accused and demanding justice.

Police officials have confirmed that a case has been registered and a detailed investigation is in progress. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible and that no one involved will be spared.
