Pakistan Kabaddi Player Ubaidullah Rajput Banned

Pakistan’s international kabaddi player Ubaidullah Rajput has landed in controversy after the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) imposed an indefinite ban on him. The action was taken following his participation in a private kabaddi tournament abroad without prior approval from the federation.
The controversy erupted after videos and photos surfaced on social media showing Rajput wearing an Indian team jersey and waving the Indian national flag during a kabaddi event held in Bahrain. The incident triggered strong reactions in Pakistan, prompting the PKF to hold an emergency meeting.
According to the federation, Rajput violated rules by playing without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and by representing a team linked to another country. Officials termed the act a serious breach of discipline and national sporting guidelines.
Ubaidullah Rajput later issued a clarification, stating that he was invited to participate in a private event and claimed there was a misunderstanding regarding team identity. He also apologised for the incident and said he did not intend to create any controversy.
The incident has sparked debate on the participation of athletes in private international tournaments and the need for clear guidelines. Sports experts believe the decision could have a major impact on Rajput’s career and may serve as a warning for other players.
