Senior BJP leader and Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen passed away at the age of 72 after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru, sending a wave of grief across the political landscape of Tripura.

Biswa Bandhu Sen was a four-time MLA from Dharmanagar constituency and was widely respected for his experience, discipline, and calm conduct as Speaker of the Assembly. He began his political career with the Congress before later joining the BJP, where he played a key role in strengthening the party in the state.

Following his demise, the Tripura government announced state mourning, and leaders across party lines expressed their condolences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha paid tribute, calling his death a major loss to public life.

Known for his commitment to democratic values and public service, Sen’s contribution to Tripura’s legislative system will be remembered for years to come. His mortal remains were brought to Agartala, where leaders and citizens paid their final respects.
