Guru Gobind Singh Ji Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of the tenth Sikh Guru, is being observed with great reverence and devotion on Saturday, 27 December 2025, across India and around the world. The day holds deep spiritual significance for the Sikh community, as Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a visionary leader, poet, warrior, and the founder of the Khalsa Panth.
Born in 1666 in Patna Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh Ji dedicated his life to upholding righteousness, equality, and justice. He played a crucial role in shaping Sikhism and strengthening the moral and spiritual foundation of the community. In 1699, he established the Khalsa, emphasizing values such as courage, selflessness, discipline, and service to humanity.
On this auspicious occasion, Gurudwaras are decorated, and special prayer services (Gurbani Kirtan and Ardas) are organised. Nagar Kirtans are carried out in many cities, featuring devotional singing, martial art displays by Nihang Sikhs, and messages of unity and brotherhood. Langar, the community kitchen, is served to all devotees, reflecting the Guru’s belief in equality beyond caste, creed, or status.
Followers also remember Guru Gobind Singh Ji for his immense contribution to Sikh literature and for declaring the Guru Granth Sahib as the eternal Guru before his departure from this world.
