The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005, Section 6 (1), permits the Center to define the salary rate for its beneficiaries, according to a notification that was issued under the Act. The Central government on Friday notified a hike in wage rates under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA) Scheme, for the financial year 2023-24. With the new notification, Haryana will have the highest daily wage at Rs 357 per day, while Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will have the lowest at Rs 221. The wage hikes will come into effect from April 1.
